HOGRE - YOU NUMBSKULL (IT'S EASIER TO LIVE WITHOUT A HEAD THAN WITHOUT GOLD)
Hogre's workYou Numbskull (It's easier to live without a head than without gold) is a silkscreen print on paper in a limited edition of 69.
Street artist Hogre depicts a pirate observing the horizon with a spyglass, a subject inspired by the film 'Pirates' by Roman Polanski. The film tells the story of the protagonist and his deckhand who suffer greatly from hunger as they find themselves in the middle of the sea and are unable to reach land. The artist, therefore, drew cutlery both on the flag - on which the skull usually appears - and on the man's hat.
Both the moniker Hogre and his iconic fly depicted on the lens of the telescope appear in this 24.5 x 21 cm work. You Numbskull is also signed and numbered in original by the Roman artist.

Hogre, an internationally established Roman street artist, lives and works in anonymity and is best known for his unauthorised interventions in public space. The artist Hogre began his career in 2006 when he provocatively covered Berlusconi's election billboards with red noses. His works are true Subvertising - a combination of the English terms subvert and advertising - which consists of the 'creative vandalisation' of billboards, inviting viewers to reflect on the massive use of advertising and commercial images in modern society. Linguistic subversions in order to unmask the mechanisms of capitalism are a further mainstay of Hogre's works. In the murals, he usually sign off with the drawing of a fly, his unmistakable logo. Hogre has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows and was also one of the protagonists of the Steal This Poster project presented by the MACRO museum in Rome in 2019.
