Miaz Brothers Kawaii 03's unique canvas work depicts a young woman in a half-length portrait against a muted background.
The Miaz Brothers are known for their innovative approach to portraiture, using airbrush and acrylic paint to create enigmatic and evocative images with blurred edges that challenge our perception. The title of Kawaii 03 refers to Japanese culture: "kawaii" is a Japanese word that can be translated as "pretty" or "cute". Since the 1980s it has been used to refer to all those female characters in manga and video games with childlike, naive, and sometimes funny features. The characteristic colours of these characters are white, pink, violet and blue, which are taken up in the Miaz Brothers' painting.
Kawaii 03 was created in 2017 using acrylic paint on a canvas measuring 96 x 129 cm. The work is signed by the artists on the back.
