Fire Works is a work made with the stencil poster technique on wood by street artists Sten Lex in 2015.
In this work on the tones of black and white - a recurring feature in their artistic production - the Italian artistic duo represents fireworks.
The artists Sten and Lex are considered pioneers of the stencil technique in Italy and inventors of the stencil poster, a method that combines the stencil with the poster. The two apply their own design on the chosen surface (poster) and, following several steps of carving and painting (stencils), remove the starting matrix allowing the initial composition to emerge.
This work of size 85 x 200 x 5 cm is signed in original and was exhibited at the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome on the occasion of "Rebirth", the personal exhibition dedicated to artists hosted by the museum. (insert link to the exhibition)

Sten and Lex are an Italian artist duo born in 1982 in Rome and Taranto respectively.
Street artists Sten Lex, besides being considered the pioneers of stencil in Italy, have innovated this technique by combining it with the poster and inventing the stencil poster. At the beginning of their career, they made portraits of b-movie characters and anonymous people on the streets of Rome, while since the 2000s their research has turned towards abstraction.
Through their works, Sten Lex aim to generate a dialogue with observers within the public space: their interventions throughout Europe and America are numerous, characterised by a palette of black and white tones.
The artists Sten and Lex have exhibited in numerous authoritative institutions, such as the MACRO Museum (2012) and the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome, which dedicated a solo exhibition - Sten Lex: Rebirth - to them in 2020.
