The work of StenLex Confini - mar piccolo is a unique piece made with the stencil poster technique.
The two street artists StenLex are considered pioneers of the stencil in Italy, a technique that has innovated by introducing an unprecedented process that combines the stencil and the poster. Roman artists print their composition on paper, then glue it on the chosen surface and then with the cutter eliminate all the black portions. Sten and Lex then cover the entire surface with black paint and, finally, remove the remaining part of the paper matrix making the original design emerge.
In their works Sten Lex prefer the use of black and white. The title Confini - mar piccolo and the composition of this work evoke an imaginary geographical map in which borders have been reinvented.
This work of size 151 x 126 cm was exhibited in the cloister of the Gallery of Modern Art in Rome for the exhibition StenLex. Rebirth in September 2020.

Sten and Lex are an Italian artist duo born in 1982 in Rome and Taranto respectively.
Street artists Sten Lex, besides being considered the pioneers of stencil in Italy, have innovated this technique by combining it with the poster and inventing the stencil poster. At the beginning of their career, they made portraits of b-movie characters and anonymous people on the streets of Rome, while since the 2000s their research has turned towards abstraction.
Through their works, Sten Lex aim to generate a dialogue with observers within the public space: their interventions throughout Europe and America are numerous, characterised by a palette of black and white tones.
The artists Sten and Lex have exhibited in numerous authoritative institutions, such as the MACRO Museum (2012) and the Galleria d'Arte Moderna in Rome, which dedicated a solo exhibition - Sten Lex: Rebirth - to them in 2020.
