The work by Shepard Fairey (Obey) End Corruption is a silkscreen on paper, finished by hand, in a limited edition of 19 pieces and signed in original by the artist.
This work made in 2019 represents a clear example of how Obey’s goal is to stimulate a critical reflection in the viewer through his works.Shepard Fairey, in fact, places at the centre of End Corruption a handshake – where on the two cuffs there are respectively: the dollar sign and a skull – surmounted by two U.S flags positioned symmetrically. Through the inscription “Legal Bribery. It’s not a dream. It’s the American system” the artist explicitly denounces the corruption of contemporary American society.
In this work Shepard Fairey uses the prevailing colours of his production’s colour palette: red, beige and black. In End Corruption emerges his unmistakable style, inspired by Futurism and Russian Avant-Garde.
