Masito's work S7521-Q103 is a watercolour on cotton paper produced in 2021. This work, originally signed by the Roman rapper, belongs to his well-known Sideralis series.

The Sideralis are fantastical creatures with anthropomorphic features created by the artist Masito from the reworking of his tag Iems, with which he identified himself when painting graffiti.

In this 23 x 31 cm work, Deep Masito depicts his iconic character using a muted colour palette on a white background.

Masito exhibited these works on the occasion of the double solo exhibition dedicated to him and the rapper Esa - Characters - held at the Wunderkammern gallery in Rome. The exhibition gave rise to a real dialogue between the two artists, in which the focus was more on the differences that characterise the production of each rather than on similarities. Masito's Sideralis, in fact, appear neat and tidy, while Esa's Faces convey a feeling of chaos to the viewer.

MASITO - BIOGRAPHY

Massimiliano Piluzzi, Masito in art, was born in Rome in 1975. Best known for his musical career as a rapper and founder of the group Colle der Fomento, he has also been active as a writer since the late 1980s. The universe of graphics and calligraphy constitute two cornerstones of his artistic production, as can be seen in his works where he usually blends graffiti art with writing. In the 1980s, he militated as a writer in various crews in Rome, signing with his tag Iems or Iem. The writer Masito has also done numerous album covers for Colle der Fomento and for other protagonists of the Roman rap scene, such as Il Turco and Truce Boys. Since 2000, he has been experimenting with different techniques and materials, from acrylics on canvas to watercolour on paper, from collage to stencil. Later, the artist Masito, also known as Deep Masito, exhibits his works during live music evenings in the capital. In 2017, he created the poster for the exhibition 'Cross The Street' at the Macro Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome. The double solo exhibition Characters, dedicated to him and the rapper Esa, features him at the Wunderkammern gallery in Milan in 2022.
