The work of Pure Evil Marilyn Butterfly World is a three-color screen printing completed by hand by the artist. Pure Evil, in fact, has drawn writings, symbols and its tag - the bunny with fangs - on the face and hair of Marilyn Monroe.
There are several versions of this work on a black background measuring 70 x 85 cm, that differ from each other depending on the colors and elements that the Welsh artist adds with marker and ink in the final phase.
Marilyn Butterfy World belongs to the Nightmare series, in which Pure Evil portrays public figures and stars of American cinema of the sixties, inspired by Andy Warhol and Pop Art. The street artist creates the portrait of Marilyn Monroe with the aim of highlighting the disenchantment and the difficulties that often lie behind the apparent perfection of the lives of the stars. The tear flowing on the faces of its protagonists is a characteristic element of all these works. Pure Evil in this work refers in particular to the tormented existence of the Hollywood diva: the mental illness of her mother, the absence of her father from childhood and the numerous love stories shipwrecked.
In September 2022 the Marilyn Butterfly World were exhibited on the occasion of her solo exhibition Not my circus, not my monkeys at the Wunderkammern headquarters in Milan.

Pure Evil, stage name of Charles Uzzell-Edwards, was born in Wales in 1968 and later moved to London where he became passionate about street style and skateboarding. It was his long stay in California, however, that introduced him to the world of graffiti. On his return to the UK in 2000, he began painting on the streets of the London suburbs, signing his tag, a rabbit with tusks, alongside the works of some big names in Street Art: Banksy, D*Face and Paul Insect.
Pure Evil draws inspiration for his works from Pop Art, in particular the portraits of Andy Warhol. In his most important series Nightmare, the artist Pure Evil portrays public figures and American film stars - from Marilyn Monroe to Jackie Kennedy - on which a characteristic tear runs down, symbolising the disillusionment and pain that is often hidden behind fame.
Pure Evil has exhibited in galleries around the world and participated in numerous group exhibitions and festivals, from the United States to Hong Kong, from Australia to Brazil.
