The work of Pure Evil Brexit Nightmare - Monochrome Madness is a unique piece made with stencils and spray paint on canvas, in which the artist depicts one of the most iconic subjects of the 20th and 21st century: Queen Elizabeth II.
In this work the artist Pure Evil inserts on the face of a young Queen Elizabeth II a dark tear that characterizes the protagonists of his series Nightmare, which highlights the disenchanted and melancholic side that often lurks behind the apparent perfection of the lives of public figures. The title Brexit Nightmare focuses on the disagreement that the Queen has indirectly shown on several official occasions against the exit of Great Britain from the European Union.
On the background of this canvas of dimensions 100 x 100 x 4 cm there are stars that refer to the flag of the European Union, as well as stripes that refer to that of the United Kingdom.
In his works Pure Evil shows clearly the admiration he has had since his youth towards Pop Art artists and Andy Warhol: the latter also dedicated a screen printing to the English monarch in 1985.
Pure Evil exhibited this work, belonging to his most important series Nightmare, during the solo show Not my circus, not my monkeys held in 2022 at the Wunderkammern headquarters in Milan.

Pure Evil, stage name of Charles Uzzell-Edwards, was born in Wales in 1968 and later moved to London where he became passionate about street style and skateboarding. It was his long stay in California, however, that introduced him to the world of graffiti. On his return to the UK in 2000, he began painting on the streets of the London suburbs, signing his tag, a rabbit with tusks, alongside the works of some big names in Street Art: Banksy, D*Face and Paul Insect.
Pure Evil draws inspiration for his works from Pop Art, in particular the portraits of Andy Warhol. In his most important series Nightmare, the artist Pure Evil portrays public figures and American film stars - from Marilyn Monroe to Jackie Kennedy - on which a characteristic tear runs down, symbolising the disillusionment and pain that is often hidden behind fame.
Pure Evil has exhibited in galleries around the world and participated in numerous group exhibitions and festivals, from the United States to Hong Kong, from Australia to Brazil.
