Hogre's work Narcissus is a silkscreen print on paper in a limited edition of 11.
The street artist Hogre is internationally renowned for his Subvertising interventions - a combination of the English terms 'subvert' and 'advertising' - a practice that consists of the creative vandalisation of billboards. Through his works, Hogre aims to trigger critical reflection in viewers, particularly towards consumerism and capitalism.
In this work measuring 50 x 35 cm, the artist Hogre depicts a man kissing the reflection of himself mirrored in the screen of a smartphone, referring to the myth of Narcissus. Thus, the street artist denounces the vanity that pervades social networks, especially Instagram, as can be understood from the font chosen for the title in the top left-hand corner and the palette of orange and fuchsia tones that recall its logo.
The work is signed and numbered in original by Hogre.

Hogre, an internationally established Roman street artist, lives and works in anonymity and is best known for his unauthorised interventions in public space. The artist Hogre began his career in 2006 when he provocatively covered Berlusconi's election billboards with red noses. His works are true Subvertising - a combination of the English terms subvert and advertising - which consists of the 'creative vandalisation' of billboards, inviting viewers to reflect on the massive use of advertising and commercial images in modern society. Linguistic subversions in order to unmask the mechanisms of capitalism are a further mainstay of Hogre's works. In the murals, he usually sign off with the drawing of a fly, his unmistakable logo. Hogre has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows and was also one of the protagonists of the Steal This Poster project presented by the MACRO museum in Rome in 2019.
