The artwork

HOGRE - MUCUS

Mucus is a work by Hogre created using the technique of screen-printing on paper.

The work plays on a strong contrast between the deep black background and the white human figure that emerges with an almost comical expression.

The parody of marketing is expressed through the irreverent marketing of 'mucus', or mucus, presented as if it were a fresh and desirable product. This performance mocks the language and tactics of advertising, highlighting the way in which even the most unlikely products can be marketed if presented in the right way.

Mucus is a work available in a limited edition of 25 pieces made in 2017, measuring 35 x 50 cm.

Hogre

Hogre, an internationally established Roman street artist, lives and works in anonymity and is best known for his unauthorised interventions in public space. The artist Hogre began his career in 2006 when he provocatively covered Berlusconi's election billboards with red noses. His works are true Subvertising - a combination of the English terms subvert and advertising - which consists of the 'creative vandalisation' of billboards, inviting viewers to reflect on the massive use of advertising and commercial images in modern society. Linguistic subversions in order to unmask the mechanisms of capitalism are a further mainstay of Hogre's works. In the murals, he usually sign off with the drawing of a fly, his unmistakable logo. Hogre has exhibited in numerous solo and group shows and was also one of the protagonists of the Steal This Poster project presented by the MACRO museum in Rome in 2019.
