Gonzalo Borondo emerges as one of the most iconic figures in the landscape of international street artists, whose presence extends globally through distinctive and impactful public interventions.
Originally from Segovia, Borondo spent a significant part of his formative years in Madrid, where he nurtured his connection with the world of graffiti. His educational journey also involved studying at the Academy of Fine Arts in both Rome and Madrid, where he had the opportunity to delve into the realm of painting through encounters with painter Jose Garcia Herranz, who introduced him to the works of the great masters of the past.
Through an innovative fusion of installation and graffiti, Borondo embraced Street Art and redefined the concept of artistic intervention in public spaces. His artistic exploration was characterized by the use of various techniques, including oil painting, charcoal, and tempera, spanning a wide range of mediums, from hay bales to windows to large-scale facades.
One of the distinctive elements of his artistic practice is represented by his unique technique of scratching glass, an approach that has helped define his unmistakable style. Borondo approaches his subjects, often human figures, with an expressionistic aesthetic that manifests through a powerful and poetic visual narrative.
