ESA - DJ PIZZA

Esa's work DJ Pizza is an acrylic on canvas made in 2022.

The writer Esa depicts a human figure in the classic DJ pose, with one hand on the console - in this case the pizza - and one near the ear. The protagonist, in addition to having a tomato instead of an ear, has his face covered with various ingredients.

The title refers to the world of music, a fundamental component in the career of Esa, a rapper considered to be one of the most important on the Italian music scene. For more than thirty years, Esa has carried on both his activity as a rapper and as an artist in parallel. Esa began creating graffiti in the 1990s, making himself recognisable with his moniker El Crespo.

This 60 x 81 cm work was created especially for the Characters Pop Up event held at the Wunderkammern gallery in Milan. DJ Pizza is a true evolution of the Facciacce exhibited at the Rome venue in the months preceding the Milan event.

ESA - BIOGRAPHY

Rapper Esa, stage name Francesco Cellamaro (Reggio Calabria, 1972), is a multifaceted artist who is well established both in the graffiti world and in the national rap scene. With a musical career spanning over twenty years, he is one of the most important rappers on the Italian scene, and has been a member of historic groups such as OTR and Gente Guasta. For over thirty years, in parallel with his rapping activity, Esa has been creating graffiti, making himself recognisable with his El Crespo moniker. In recent years, he has started to exhibit his works on paper, collage and canvas and in 2020, 'Tributes' was his first solo exhibition in Milan. In his works, Esa brings back many characters from the musical universe, giving space for fantasy and imagination.

The work is fragile and a custom-made wooden crate will have to be made for it to travel safely. It will be delivered to you by insured express courier and the shipping cost will be calculated before payment is made.
