Add Fuel - In Depth 04
“In Depth 04” is a work that fits perfectly into Add Fuel's research on the relationship between decoration, matter and geology. Through the use of galvanized steel panels cut by oxyfuel and finished with thermostatic paint, the artist creates an articulated surface in which the ornamental motif, inspired by ceramic traditions, is fragmented and crossed by cracks that evoke geological processes of erosion and fracture.
The work presents a composition in which the decorative symmetry is deliberately interrupted by a tear that runs through the structure like a geological fault. The precision of the carving and the layering of layers create an effect of depth, accentuating the idea of a surface that opens to reveal what is hidden beneath. This element of rupture recalls fundamental concepts in Add Fuel's work, such as the “Fracture”, the fracture line that expresses the constant movement of the earth, and the “Crevasse”, which suggests the vulnerability and strength inherent in natural materials.
The elegance of the floral and geometric motifs contrasts with the brutality of the slit that breaks them, creating a dialogue between the stability of the design and the dynamism of the break. As the artist states, his works are maps of the earth, a visual atlas that chronicles the layered memory of matter. In “In Depth 04”, steel, a cold, industrial material, is transformed into a mosaic of fragments that seem to emerge from the geological history of the planet, testifying to the passage of time and the continuous transformation of the earth's surface.
This work is not just a celebration of aesthetics, but a profound reflection on the relationship between order and chaos, between construction and disintegration, between human intervention and the primordial forces that shape our world.
