The work Number 10 is a limited edition of 15 pieces and 2 artist's proofs, created with gel ink on ceramic by artist Add Fuel in 2024.
In this more than in his other works, Add Fuel integrates and revitalizes the traditional aesthetics of PortugueseAzulejos with elements characteristic of video game design, comic books, and urban art.
In this work, street artist Add Fuel divides the composition diagonally: in the upper part, the blue and light blue designs create an effect of continuity and harmony, while in the lower part, the same vivid pattern on a white background creates a strong contrast and highlights the dynamic nature of the motifs. This “fracture” not only balances harmony and liveliness, but also represents a meeting of tradition and innovation. The complex motifs recall traditional Portuguese decorations, but are reinterpreted through a contemporary style reminiscent of comic books and video games. This dialogue between the ancient and the modern creates a unique visual balance, blending traditional decorative art with visual and stylistic elements typical of contemporary street art.
Number 10 measures 20 x 20 cm,.
